FROM CONSULTING TO COACHING — A SHIFT THAT FEELS PERSONAL
I just read the recent WSJ piece on how McKinsey is navigating AI—and it stayed with me.
The headline says it all: “This is existential.” Not just for them—for the whole consulting industry.
12,000 AI agents now work inside McKinsey, helping with everything from writing decks to checking logic. Strategy projects that once needed 15 consultants might now need 3—and a few bots.
But maybe the most interesting part? Clients aren’t just buying advice anymore. They’re asking for support in implementation, change, learning. Less “tell us what to do”—more walk with us while we figure it out.
That sounds a lot like coaching.
I’ve spent years at the intersection of strategy and leadership development. And this shift makes sense. In complex environments, it’s not just answers we need—it’s better conversations, clearer thinking, and real-time reflection.
That’s why I believe Strategic Coaching is becoming not just relevant, but essential.
This isn’t about resisting change—it’s about showing up differently. With presence. With perspective. And with the kind of support no bot can replicate.
Curious to hear how others are experiencing this shift. Are you seeing it too?
